On the N38, 1 km from the French border on the way to Poperinge is Noel Cuvelier’s farm shop. One of the largest varieties of Belgian beer is available here at prices below most other specialists, available by the bottle or the case. Special gift packs, seasonals, larger bottles (75cl bottles and above), glasses, etc. Take your time to carefully check the shelves as you are bound to come across some rare ales. Last week I was fortunate enough to re-stock St Bernardus Christmas in 75cl bottles plus some Gouden Caroulus Christmas which I haven’t tasted before.
Noel also stocks a large variety of wines and aperitifs including his own label port, picon and even Abele Abbey tripel. Service is helpful – just ask if you can’t find a particular beer and they will find it for you if it’s in stock. If you have a particular request, call in advance to avoid disappointment and Noel will arrange this for you.
In addition to beer Noel also stocks a range of Belgian chocolates, biscuits and snacks, general groceries, charcuterie, pates and cheeses.
Opens from 8am until 8pm. Please be aware that Noel now closes both Mondays and Tuesdays and also at lunch (as sacred a part of the day as it is in France).
